viokrome
Thanks ram guy! everything is running fast and stable now! I am going to upgrade to a 2gb twinx2048-3200c2 kit next, is that the best ram kit for my board?and do you suggest the same timings for this on my board? thanks again...............
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 28, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 28, 2006 Yes just load setup defaults and then set the same timings and you should be good to go!
Roland Deschain
I just built a very similar system yesterday: Asus A8N-E mobo AMD Athlon64 3700+ (San Diego core) 2 x TwinX1024-3200C2 pairs (2 GB total) Antec Truepower 2.0 480W PS I have to admit being rather stunned by the default (automatic) DRAM timings set up on the first boot, considering these modules are advertised PC3200 DIMMs with 2-3-3-6 timings. I set them manually to 2-3-3-6 in the BIOS and fired it right up, but haven't been overly impressed. Of course, I had no idea what the other BIOS timing parms were, so I left them at default. (I will be trying out your suggestions shortly) I ran CPU-Z to look at the SPD tables on the modules...can you explain why they're setup for 3-3-3-8 @ 200MHz, 2.5-3-3-7 @ 166MHz, and 2-2-2-6 @ 133MHz? Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining, as they seem to be running 2-3-3-6 @ 200MHz just fine in this machine. I'm just curious about the SPD tables. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 3, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 3, 2006 If you have a XMS module that ends with a "C2" designation the SPD will be set to JEDEC defined values for the IC used to make that specific part and the tested settings would need to be manually set! Which is out lined in XMS Qualification and Testing!
