IWantMore
Help ... is there any way for me to install 4gb or more on my A8N SLI Deluxe? I would not mind ugrading cpu from xp64 3500 if required ... cost is not a problem. I want 4Gb minimum. 16 or 32Gb would be better. From what I have read so far the limit seems to be in the cpu? something about single rank vs dual rank ram? So if I cant get my A8N SLI Deluxe up to 4Gb of ram, any recommendations for a MB/cpu opteron configuration that is best to upgrade to 16 or 32 Gb of ram. Yellowbeard
That MOBO can manage 4gb of RAM. There are several 2gb kits of DDR memory available from Corsair that are compatible: PC3500LL, PC3200C2, PC4000, and soon a PC4400. http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=375&l1=3&l2=15&l3=148 The core of your CPU will play into how fast the memory runs. What core do you have in your 3500? However, the limitation is not the MOBO or CPU in this case. It's the OS. What OS are you running or planning to run? Also, just curious, why do you want/need so much RAM? If you are wanting more than 4gb you are going to need to buy a server board. I have no recommendations there as I have not read up on them recently. However, ASUS and Tyan are well reputed. Mike.
