Flavor_E
I purchased two 1GB corsair XMS3200 modules from newegg.com and they arrived 2 weeks ago. When i installed the 2 modules, i started to smell some smoke and the computer could not boot so I took them out. After a close look, i noticed one module was damaged. I put back the other module and my computer booted without any problem. I have an ASUS P4SD-LA motherboard. I am now running it on 1GB RAM but I want to have 2GB. I returned both modules to newegg but they sent them back because one of the modules is damaged so they advised me to contact corsair directly. I was wondering if I could have the damaged module replaced and what do I need to do?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 1, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 1, 2006 There is no such model in ASUS channel list of MB's. Is this an OEM system? And are you trying to mix these modules with the memory that came with your system? If so please test the suspect module by it self with http://www.memtest.org. if you have one that works and oen that does not then lets get it replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or *New* Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue!

thebigfatj
Yes exactly my point its an HP MB! It's an HP remarked MB. Asus made it. Here's a link to the retail sister: http://web.archive.org/web/20050330052010/http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4g800-v/overview.htm P4G800-V. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 1, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 1, 2006 Yes and its still an OEM and would have the same limitations with memory! Value Select may not be the best choice and I would not suggest mixing memory if he is trying to mix the modules that came with his system.
