edpbrennan
A Professor here at our school is trying to use a Flash Voyager, 1gb for backup. He frequently gets the following: "Error copying File or folder: error: cannot copy <filename>: the volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid". He's using a new IBM (Lenovo) Thinkpad T43 and trying to transfer data directly from the c-drive. He has no other applications open. Are there any known causes for this error? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2005 If possible I would suggest testing the drive on another system. If its tests properly in another system, I would check with the maker of the NB for the latest bios and or drivers for the chipset and USB controller. If you have the latest bios and driver I would suggest testing the system with http://www.memtest.org to make sure there is not some other problem.
