pkuglin
I have a set of 4 Corsair CMX512-3500C2 modules in a Asus P4p800 Deluxe MB using a Intel P4 3GHZ processer. The system is about 2 years old and up to now working fine. About a month ago I started having random blue screens/OS crashing while in normal use. After many hours of toubleshooting (down sizing # of disks used, deconfigure addons cards, external devices etc) I deconfigured down to only 2 memory modules. One set if installed alone still cause blue screen crashes while the other set seems OK. With that one set of DIMMS the system seems stable again. So I believe I have a bad module - maybe 2. Not sure which one... What next?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 23, 2005 To properly figure out if the problem is the memory or not, you should run memtest and inform me of the results. You need to test each module alone, one at a time. Here are the directions: 1. Head over to http://www.memtest.org 2. Click on the link labeled "Download (Pre-built & ISOs)" 3. Next click on the link labeled "Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win)" 4. Download the software and Unzip the program files 5. Make sure a floppy disk is inserted 6. Run the program, when it asks which drive letter type in "a:" 7. Program should finish writing, reboot off floppy disk 8. Allow memtest to run 2-3 passes Let me know how it goes.
