joeltine
Hi! I have the Corsair CX850M PSU. On the back there are two eight pin slots labeled "6+2 PCie & 4+4 CPU". I'm trying to connect an AMD 6800 XT GPU (this one) which requires 2x 8 pin connections. The pig-tailed 8 pin PCIe cable that came with the PSU does not seem to fully power the GPU when both are plugged in (black screen, only one power LED on the GPU). I'm thinking I need to run a separate cable from the remaining open 8 pin slot on the PSU to the GPU to fully power it. My question is, will any type 3 or 4 PCIe cable work even though the slot is labeled "4+4"? I bought this one from Amazon, which says it's Corsair CX-M compatible, but it didn't work. I'm now looking at this one on the Corsair website. Will that work? Bit confused here... any ideas? Thanks! Corsair Employee Solution Corsair Elito Posted September 17, 2022 Corsair Employee Solution Share Posted September 17, 2022 Hi We do not support 3rd party cables, the one from amazon would not work and likely damage your port. CP-8920111 will support this PSU, Type 3 & 4 are backwards compatible.
