MemTest86 errors w/ Cmx512-3200c2 modules

I built this system last Dec for a customer. AMD 64, GigaByte K8NS Ultra 939, (1) Corsair cmx512-3200c2 module. Installed XP Pro with only few glitches. In Jan I added another cmx512-3200c2 module. Now it was running in Dual Channel mode. For the last 2 weeks he was calling with Data Exception errors he had not had before. Explorer, Outlook, and a few more I added to the list.

Then his stock program started getting fatal errors and shutting down.

I brought his machine here to my shop. I immediately pulled one stick of memory. It ran better, but still had some program crashes. I marked the module and swapped it for the other. Hmm, similar results. I checked this forum and DL'ed MemTest86.

MemTest86 kept rebooting and starting over. I was only testing one stick at a time. Frustrated that MemTest doesn't have a log, I video taped each test.

One module had 26,000 errors and the other 45,000 errors. Many lines of red covered the screen.

So I figured I couldn't have 2 bad modules so today I replaced the MB with an ASUS A8V Deluxe. I tested each module separately with MemTest86. Both passed fine 10 tests each. So I installed them in Dual Channel mode and ran MemTest86. I am now getting errors.

CAS: 2.5-3-3-6

Test 6 0 0000db82dd8 - 219.1MB fffffffb ffffffeb 00000010 5

I switched module positions and now have this error:

Test 3 0 0001243d220 - 292.8MB fbfbfbfb fbfbfbeb 00000010 4

Please advise...

Please make sure the modules are in the correct slots, and if so and you had the Dim Voltage set to 2.7 Volts then try the other slots. IE 1-3 or 2-4 or 1-2 or 3-4. In addition, since you did not get a matched set you will need to make sure both modules are the exact same revision and part# if not they may not run properly in this platform. And the suggested settings for 2 non matched modules would be Cass 2.5-3-3-7 as well.

I have one v1.2 and one v2.2. Is it possible to get a match to one of these?

:[pouts: Well, I tested the modules individually, and one did report the following errors:

6 0 0000921e910 - 146.8MB ffffffff ffffffeb 00000010 12

6 34 00007dd7af8 - 125.1MB 00020000 00820000 00800000 1

4 36 0000921e910 - 146.8MB d46295f8 d46295e8 00000010 9

Summary:

TEST 3 ERRORS 2

TEST 4 ERRORS 10

TEST 6 ERRORS 10 :

Where do I go from here?

No I am sorry the only way to get a matched set would be to have pruchased a Twinx set of modules. But please test the modules one at a time and see if one is failing.
