beaker75
I believe I have a stick of ram gone bad. Part #: CMX512-2700C2 XMS2702v1.2 I purchased this part in June 2003. Everything seemed OK until I upgraded my processor from an Athlon XP 1900+ which has a 266FSB to an Athlon XP 3000+ which has a 400FSB. In my BIOS I configured the RAM for 333MHz. At this point, while running Windows XP, games that previously worked now crashed with errors. I booted up MemTest86 version 3.2. MemTest86 indicated errors in Test 3. I tried increassing the DDR voltage from 2.6 to 2.8. MemTest86 stopped reporting errors in Test 3, but started reporting errors in Test 5. I then tested the memory in another machine running an Athlon XP 1900+ with a 266FSB but a different motherboard. This was done by replacing an exiting memory part, a CMX512-2700C2 XMS2702v1.1. MemTest86 again indicated errors in Test 3. Do you have any further suggestions or should I just send in the part for warranty replacement/repair?
