Dave3d
Hello. Just bought a new model Corsair TX650, and put it in my system. The fan is not moving at all. The system has been on for about 40 minutes now. Is this fan temperature controlled? If so, at what temps does the fan turn on? I have an AX1200 in my gaming rig, and an HX1000 in my secondary gaming rig, an older model TX650 (from about 2 years ago I think?) in my test system, and when the power button is pushed, all of the fans come on immediately. thanks for any help/info. Spamlobster
It's off a newer design, temp controlled, fanless at low enough loads (= sub 150-200W on input side, depending on ambient temp, cooling conditions, etc of course). And once the fan tries to spin up, you're in for a wild ride. Oh you're gonna love your new PSU so much.
peanutz94
What is the part number of the PSU you have? The newer ones do have a fan-less operation at low loads. The older ones do not. The new PSU part number is SKU# CMPSU-650TXV2
Dave3d
On the box it came in, it has a sticker that says : SKU: CP-9020038-NA LOT #: 12207119 Is there a different sku on the psu itself?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 31, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 31, 2012 This is normal as the Version 2 models support fan-less operation at low load or low temp. There is nothing to worry about and you would have to have about 40% load on the system and or it be above 48 Deg C internally for the fan to kick on
