Throw Lemons Posted August 14, 2012 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Hi there, don't know whether this is a stupid question but if I give you a serial number or such like from a Corsair PSU that I am thinking of purchasing off somebody would you be able to check how much warranty it has left on it, if any? Wired Posted August 14, 2012 Share Posted August 14, 2012 From how I understand it, generally the first 4 digits of a lot (sometimes serial) number are the year / week an item was made. Go to the warranty page and see how long the warranty is. If you're still within the warranty time frame then you're good. On the label that has the Part number CMPSU-XXXXXX you should see a number that will start with the 2 Digit year it was made like 10030000 That is the Lot code and what we would go by. Corsair provides a non-transferable warranty to the purchaser of Corsair hardware product purchased from an authorized Corsair reseller. Corsair warrants that the product will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a specified period commencing on the date of purchase. The warranty period will vary by specific product, as identified in your user documentation, on the product package, or as listed in the attached listing of Corsair Warranty Periods. In the event any of these warranty periods differ, the longest specified warranty period will apply. Except where prohibited by applicable local law, this warranty is limited to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. This warranty provides you with specific legal rights, and you may have additional rights that vary under local laws. In general, this warranty means your Corsair hardware product will operate in accordance with published technical specifications , as specified by its datasheet, and in the operating environment for which it was intended for the length of the warranty period. Note that this version of the warranty was published on September 1, 2011, and is applicable for products purchased on or after that date.
