karlypants Posted December 11, 2013 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Hi Everyone, I am wondering if anyone knows the height of the XMS3 DHX memory module range (cm3x2048-1333c9dhx) as I have an Noctua DH-14 CPU heatsink & fan and not sure if the ram will fit under this. http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=34&lng=en Any help will be greatly appreciated! :): Edit: Just found a compatibility list on Noctua and they won't fit - Apologies. That being said, I removed the heatsinks from my memory and they've been working happily ever since under the DH-14 2011 Noctua cooler that I have. peanutz94 Posted December 11, 2013 Share Posted December 11, 2013 I'm not sure about the height , but the tops of the heatsinks are removable and will not void your warranty. The DHX and Dominator modules are designed that way. All other modules that do not have that design would void the warranty like the Vengeance, Vengeance Pro and standard XMS memory. The DDR3 Modules in question are these: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/5923/sbiq.jpg I don't have these to hand yet as I haven't bought them but the fins don't look like they can be removed on this model? Ive just seen some horror pics of people trying to remove them with a heat gun and pulling the chips off so I think I will leave the heatsinks on and maybe try to trim the fins off which seems a better idea.
