DarkStorm919
Hi everyone Recently bought a Corsair H80i and must say really loving it so far. Since my first purchase and use of this cooler type I just want to quickly know if there are some tips for extending the life of these type of coolers ? Due to work and school i use my PC mostly in the evenings from 6 - 11pm and like to shut down my PC each night as opposed to leaving it running 24/7. Is this bad for the pump and radiator to be on for such short times and decreases the lifespan of the product? Also i set my Pump to run 100% full in the Corsair link and just switch between the fan speeds Quiet and Balanced. Any advice will greatly be appreciated... Thanks for reading and in advance. wytnyt
theres no set way thats ''better'' as either 24/7 or sporadic use is ok for the h80i cooler also the pump runs at full speed and cant be changed...
Latharion
Turning the CPU off at night defintely will NOT decrease the lifespan of the cooler, it also will NOT decrease the lifespan of the CPU! Both have a specific and measurable quantity of total run-time cycles. The pump, for instance, will turn a specific number of times before the bushings wear out and the pump fails. Turning the cooler off simply haults that process until the pump is started again.
Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted November 17, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 17, 2014 Don't worry about it, you're fine. :) Just set the fans to your desired levels, and don't worry about the pump. The cooler has a 5-year warranty for a reason; it's designed to run under much harsher conditions than what you're subjecting it to.
