Force GT Issue

Just got my first freeze up and BSOD after a while... Happened when I was just surfing the net.

The worst thing is, Windows can't even log a minidump for crash error analysis..

Running 1.3 with a secure erase prior to re-installing OS....

SIGH... Sandforce....

Try applying the LPM registry fix. Also, did you fully clear your BIOS after your firmware upgrade?

Yup I removed the battery on my motherboard as well as applied the LPM fix after I re-installed windows.

After the firmware update and before applying the LPM fix, did you have any more issues? If you weren't having issues after the firmware update, you should not have applied the LPM fix.

Oh; I did everything at 1 shot so there was no way of me telling if the LPM really caused it or not.

Is there a way to 'un-do' the LPM fix?

I have no clue if you can simply reverse the instructions or not. I would think that you could. Also, a clean install would do it if you want to be 110% sure. My suggestion is that ANY time you do a clean install, start with a secure erase.

Alright I'll try re-enabling the LPM and see then. I already performed a secure erase using parted magic before reinstalling the OS.

:(:

Just had a second instance with the drive; although this time it is quite different.

Point to note that this happened without the LPM registry fix.

Left the computer idling, suddenly my entire Windows Explorer vanished (You see nothing on the screen except your desktop background), and after a while the computer restarted by itself (No freezing; I could still move the mouse, and no BSOD), but my system failed to boot and gave me a Disk Read Error screen.

I then had to use a cold boot to get the system to recognize my Force GT drive again, and thankfully am back into Windows normally.

Just had another freeze and BSOD while doing some photoshop and surfing the net... Lost my work  Even seemed to corrupt some of my files on the C Drive...

Going to run a secure erase, clear my CMOS, and then perform a clean windows installation again without applying the LPM fix.

If BSODs are still going to persist, I really need to RMA / return this... Sigh. :(:

I'm also still experiencing freezing, and on forced reboot my two force gt 120 drives don't get detected.

Firmware 1.3

BIOS reset

Secure Erased

Reinstalled

After I got my first freeze with all that fixed, i applied the LPM fix, got my second freeze a couple of hours ago.

Also all my freezes have occurred when I've done something very "slow" in windows, like browsing the interwebs - never during gaming, watching a movie or such.

Which SATA controller are you using and which drivers have you tried?

SATA2 Intel ICH10R controller, driver is Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.

*edit*

Just got my third freeze, every time my raid1 drives need to resync :[pouts:

On solutions seems to be to disable TRIM ( using fsutil ). I haven't see users who did that returning and complaining after a few days that it's actually not fixed ( I'm not only talking about the Corsair forum, but about support forums from different manufacturers as well ).

Can't really say its a solution when it will make your disc deteriorate over time. Want a more permanent fix than that. :sigh!:

Anyway thanks for the tip!

Not saying that it's a solution or anything, but keep in mind that the drives do have garbage collection.
