bbshakenbake
I built my new computer with these listed parts. At first the computer ran fine. Did the 3dmark Vantage test and scored 17300. No problem what so ever. All the temperatures were OK. But when I started the computer the next day I kept getting blue screen a couple of minutes after start. Cant remember the BCCodes. I thought is was some problem with drivers or my copy of win 7 since the computer ran fine in safe mode, so i formatted the disk, but now I got blue screen during the win setup. AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Gainward GeForce GTX 460 1GB PhysX CUDA Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H, Socket-AM3 Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 6GB CL9 Corsair TX 750W PSU Samsung SpinPoint T166 320GB SATA2 NEC DVD AD-7173 IDE Silver OEM Stop. 0x00000024 (0x00000000001904FB, 0xFFFFF88027A44B8, 0xFFFFF88027A3D10, 0xFFFFF8000C20900E This was the blue sceen during the setup. The next step for me was doing the memtest86+ wich didnt detect any errors. I also did a full surface scan on my Harddrive wich turned out positive also. I got a tips that it could have something to do with the fact that I was running 3x2 on a dual channel system (my cousin is running this with no errors on a AMD system) so I removed a stick from the motherboard and viola, the Win-setup went through without a blue screen. Problem solved I thought and stated to install all the drivers. The computer ran fine for two days without a singel blue screen but today after I booted up, the mouse froze, explorer crashed and then this blue screen: ================================================== Dump File : 082910-31044-01.dmp Crash Time : 2010-08-29 13:42:18 Bug Check String : PFN_LIST_CORRUPT Bug Check Code : 0x0000004e Parameter 1 : 00000000`00000099 Parameter 2 : 00000000`00017e27 Parameter 3 : 00000000`00000000 Parameter 4 : 00000000`00017f27 Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe Caused By Address : ntoskrnl.exe+70740 File Description : NT Kernel & System Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16617 (win7_gdr.100618-1621) Processor : x64 Computer Name : Full Path : CWindows\Minidump\082910-31044-01.dmp Processors Count : 4 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 ================================================== what is the problem here? Did i buy the wrong memories for the motherboard? Isn't there a way to run them at all? I read multiple forum posts by people runnings these memory sticks on a AMD system even though they're specified for Intel. Please help me, I'm going bananas over here without a computer! And please excuse my bad english!
Wired
That kit has not been tested on an AMD platform. Doesn't mean you can't run them on that platform, but it generally isn't recommended. What voltage are you running the memory at?
bbshakenbake
Hmm, OK. But should it be possible to run the 6 gig's 3x2 on this system? I'll check the voltages when I get home from work. Havn't changed them so they should be the default values, whatever those are on that MB. I'll get back to you on that one!
