ury
Hi, I'm trying to connect multiple SATA HDDs to my system. I have only Type 4 SATA power cables available for me HX620W PSU, but the hard drives won't power up. When I connect the same HDDs to the 5-pin SATA power cable (just for testing) everything works. Any idea? Thanks, Ury
jrcobb1994
Type 4 cables are not compatible with the HX620w the only cable that has the HX620 listed is dicontinued... you might try a type 3 cable but if that doesnt work you are left with trying to source a used cable or repin the PSU connector to match one of the original cables. ury
Thank you for the response. I got "loads" of Type 4 SATA power cables, so it's strange they're no supported, but apparently thus is the case. I don't have any spare Type 3 cables, but I'll figure it out (probably SATA to IDE)

DevBiker
On the peripheral cables, Type 3 and Type 4 are identical.

I have. More than once. Molex to multiple SATA is particularly dangerous.
