Rogue-OP
I am stuck between buying one of these two, and am concerned with their power draw. In one review, it says the Neutron is more power hungry than the Neutron GTX: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6058/corsair-neutron-gtx-ssd-256gb-review/8 In another review, it says the Neutron GTX is more power hungry than the Neutron: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/09/10/corsair_neutron_series_gtx_240gb_ssd_review/9 Which review is correct? Both reviews said that this issue should be fixed in a later firmware. Has there been a firmware fix since this review that address this? Cheers. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 10, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 10, 2012 At 1.1 to 4.0 watts that is still way less than a spinning HDD. So I am not sure it will make that much difference. 4.0 watts at 12 Volts is .3 Amps... In addition, the review did not list the firmware as it was likely a Beta Firmware looking at the review date 8/20/2012
..AlLkNoWinG..
Current firmware is M206. I would not worry about power consumption as it will not affect anything. I am currently using a Neutron in my work laptop and I seen a huge improvement in battery life vs. my HDD. I also tried a different SSD, which advertise lower power consumption and did not notice any difference between the two.
Rogue-OP
I will be using this in conjunction with an 7.2k HDD in my laptop. So hence my concern with the battery.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 10, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 10, 2012 The SSD at 4 watts is not going to make a dent in the battery life; your spinning HDD will use about 10-20 watts in comparison.
