  1. I use iCEU, heaven help me.

I can't for the life of me get it to change my pump speed. I am using a H115i.

No amount of left clicking, right clicking or anything else allow me to change it. Talk about non-intuitive!

Can anyone tell me how to change it?

Oh, It seems I can set it to quiet or extreme but not balanced. Shame that really, I find quiet a little too passive and extreme, well, extreme!

  2. There shouldn't be any need for that. the new 2x6 pins is a new option for OEMs, but i doubt it will be seen in the DIY market. The cards should come with traditionnal 8 pins PCIE. I doubt Nvidia would shoot itself in the foot selling cards you can't plug without changing your power supply

    Wrong! LOL!

Well, they did change the socket and plug. Also, interestingly, some people are going to need new power supplies. But getting back to the point, although NVIDIA will be pushing adapters, I would like to see some cables to convert my existing modular Corsair power supply.

  3. I have an Air 740 with a front mounted h115i radiator acting as an intake. Cooling of the case is boosted by two fans at the base of case that directly blast the graphics card when it starts to get hot. All in all the configuration works very well indeed.

    There is one problem.

The front mounted h115i leaves about 300mm room for a graphics card, but the latest graphics cards can be up to 328mm in length.

I am considering moving the h115i, but am reluctant to because the current setup works so well. The only other place it can go is the top of the case.

Problem is that the obvious way to do that is to change the h115i so it's configured as an output. But, I know if that radiator is configured as an output that it will pump the graphics card heat through the CPU. This I would really like to avoid. So an option I was mulling over was configuring the h115i as an intake instead. This would ensure that basically the thermal properties of the system stays as is, but the radiator has moved. Great. But in my mullings I thought I would just put it out there and see what other people think.

    So.... what do you think?

  4. This morning I powered up my PC and it was making a horrible helicopter noise! After a few minutes of thinking it was someone cutting their lawn I finally realised it was all my fans acting strangely. It seems iCEU had sort of lost it's configuration. After a while setting it all back up, I was just wondering .. how do I backup the settings?

It's an idea by the way to add backup and restore buttons to the iCEU?

  5. I mean I don't wish to sound harsh here, I don't know how else to say it....It really doesn't help when people step outside the bounds of what "they know" in to "what they heard". It does no one any good. But worse for you, if you go telling Corsair how to run their company you are likely to alienate them to the point where they just don't want to help you any more. Seriously, just stick to the known facts and report the problems. I am sorry if that's not good enough, but you really aren't in a position to diagnose the company.
  6. I am wondering if iCEU is used to switch the mode of the H115i to whatever, can I then stop iCEU running and the PC can be operated without it? In other words does the H115i remember what modes it's set to and so on without the iCEU? Even if power cycled?
  7. No!

Honestly I don't think it would be worth it.

If you check out performance numbers for the 8700K then you will see that changing the RAM a little really makes a trivial difference. Not even close to 500 Eu difference!! You would be far better selling the 1080ti then using the 500Eu towards a 2080ti which will give you a very substantial increase in performance ( 30% ish ). Replacing the already good RAM could only result literally in one or two extra frames.

  8. Well if it doesn't work on XMP then it is most likely the motherboard and not the RAM. Fiddling settings may well help but may not. I would be more inclined to just step down the frequency. You honestly are not talking any performance difference with that CPU if you drop it down to 3000. Try using the XMP settings but with the frequency at 3000 instead of 3200.
  9. Just to repeat what others have said, you don't need it. But if you are overclocking and you want it anyway, you can buy them from the Corsair shop. That's what I did. It was cheap and arrived 48 hours later.
  10. I suspect that everything is fine just you have been unlucky and received a PSU with a noisy coil.

I have a PSU in an old PC here with the same issue. When the PC draws more power through the PSU it buzzes. I would expect that with an old PSU but not with a brand new one. You should send it back for replacement. Most shops will do that. I don't know how Corsair themselves consider noisy coils. If you can't replace it then consider changing the orientation of the PSU. High frequency noise is highly directional and easily absorbed. If you block the path to your ears with a carpet tile or even pointing the supply in another direction you can often solve the problem.

  11. Hi all, on the RM650x, does the fan blow air inside the PSU or does it blow hot air out?

Depends what case you have and which way up you place the PSU. Most cases these days face the PSU down and draw air in from the outside and return it to the outside, but that's not always what happens.

Under idle conditions your PC will only be using around 100W so the PSU fan will not be running. That load will increase to 200W or so when you are gaming, so after a little while the PSU fan will come on.

It would help if you explained why you wanted to know, then we could offer some meaningful advice. If you are asking is this enough ventilation for the case, no, it's not.

  12. I am not an expert at this but I would have though the answer is no. Manufacturers tend to only support their own LED's. At some stage someone may come up with an app to control everything but at the moment I don't know of one.
  13. I know there is a note about fan curves for the latest release, but does this cover the choice of monitoring period?

When I was trying to reduce the load that the software puts on my PC I changed the graphing period to "day" but noticed than that as soon as the PC restarts it goes back to "second".

I suspect you are looking at this right now but just wanted to confirm that if you are GREAT and if you aren't then please do!

  14. It looks like that did the trick. I just took the last point on my curve and made it 98% instead of 100%.

Seems like a good solution in that you really shouldn't need anything like 98% even, you are making a huge amount of noise for a very tiny performance gain.

  15. I have been unable to find a solution to this. The only one thing I can say is that it goes back a long way. I tried iCUE 3.9.93 and it's the same.

I am not sure that deconfiguring anything makes a difference. It seems to be using about 3% even if it's doing nothing. I suppose it could be polling things even when not configured, just because it has found those devices, but 3% is a lot for just that.

  16. I am sure I will get told off with this but Corsair have always written horrible software. In my experience the best thing to do is try the different versions and when you find one that will install, disable updates, cus sure as heck it won't work for long if you don't. Really though Corsair have suffered from this for years and years and STILL haven't got their act together.
  17. Please Corsair!! Allow us to turn PSU fans OFF when manually configured!

At the moment it defaults to 40%.

I suppose this is probably because the fan has a stall speed but that's fine, just allow it to be off OR above 40%.

You could even build in a safety that forces the user to have at least 40% at 50 degrees C.

But it would be really handy to keep the off until hot mode when the auto profile is overridden.

  18. This is different to the other post about this, so I will post a new thread.

I have a 9700K yet iCUE is using 2.8% of the CPU resources.

It's not doing anything for heavens sake. It's controlling four fans and that's it.

Also I have noticed that there is a considerable jump in my GPU temperature when iCUE is visible on the desktop.

Normally they GPU is rock solid at 32 Degrees C, but within a minute of placing iCUE on the desktop that starts to rise to a somewhat unstable reading of 36 degrees. It doesn't do this for any other app, and no graphs are configured in iCEU. The moment I minimise iCEU then the temperature slowly falls back to 32 degrees.

I mean seriously, what is going on?

I have updated to the latest iCUE but this problem is NOT related to a recent version, I was in fact running a much older version before this and it had the same issue.

  19. Ah it is time to buy a new keyboard. Last time I bought a Logitech Gaming G pro and it actually fell to pieces after five months, so I am up for something different.

I have a number of Corsair keyboards but I always found noise to be an issue. I normally get Brown switches but I seem to remember one of my Corsair keyboards had Red and I didn't find any problem with typing. Guess it must be my typing style. So an obvious choice for me is MX Silent.

My one HUGE sticking point is why oh why Corsair isn't there a TKL version of the Strafe RGB???

I absolutely love TKL keybaords, for the simple reason they are more comfortable. They sit centrally with my monitor and don't push my mouse too far to the fright. In fact I love them so much I really don't get why they are not more popular than they seem to be!!!

Do people buy full keyboards simply because "it's what they are used to"? I mean I struggle to understand!! Do people really use the additional keys that a full keyboard has?? I know I never use them so TKL is an obvious choice.
