I have one of them and I can run dual GTX 690 cards fine
-
meanwhile the only AX1600i at my local NewEgg is from some scalper on China
price is triple MSRP, no thanks
-
I suggest reset windows and if that fixes problems it shows it ws system corruption.
PSU failures are uncommon. BIOS errors are common. System corruption is very common.

Sure, it would be nice by Corsair to define max load for one PCI-E cable with the two connectors. I have MSI Suprim 3080 in my mining rig and I want to add another one but using 3 cables per GPU is overkill.
Mining is more of a static load than gaming and in that situation cabling requirements are corresponding higher.

I have several of the pig-tail cables and I have lots of power pig cards
in short, using one cable with dual 8-pin is not problem, a 3x 8-pin extreme card will need 2 cables
-
yes you can, cables are fully interchangeable
power spikes is why I use an HX1000i to keep my box operating at peak efficiency when blasting away in Halo
-
I have had my order pending with Corsair for god knows how long
All I know is that when more are available I will see some spam from Corsair
-
self test should not affect the rest of the machine
RX 480 is an old card, I have one: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB

Get a high end power bar with EMI filters to reduce the RF leakage
some glass chassis are bad for leaking RF as well
-
The AIO water cooler has SATA power which is the same as the Commander
Both have USB and I use the MB for the commander and the Commander for the AIO and PSU
My AIO fans are hosted by the connectors on the unit. Chassis fans are on the commander.
SATA power to the commander provides power for fans and the USB etc

Those pigtail cables can have a 300W card and I have tried them fine.
Keep in mind your PSU is slowly fossilizing so you might want to set aside some budget for a replacement
-
post some mugshots of the rig
-
I switched to iCue 4.x and problems were reduced
K55 Keyboard still will not cooperate but the rest of the gear is towing the line
-
When i first installed my water cooler I removed the OEM thermal pad and used a small dab MX-4. I have an H115i RGB 280mm cooler and my CPU barely flinches even with my most sadistic software.
I have tools 100x more harmful than CPUID can do.

It is the weekend so somebody should be able to get to your needs Monday or Tuesday.
Corsair is not bad fixing problems but can be a lineup
-
The Corsair Commander has 2 power USB ports for devices. I run my H1000i off one and the H115i RGB off the other. Everything works fine.
-
Most servers with triple EPS12V are loaded with 8 video cards for rendering etc. They usually have a pair of 2000W power supplies in them.
Supermicro superservers have boxes like that.

Lucky me my box of misc hardware is still supported. I guess that means my build is viable for now.
My PSU is 2015 vintage but it works as well as day 1. Monitored are more costly. I did not mind spend a few pesos more.
My water cooler is not that old so but if it stops working I am sure Corsair can find me a quart of slime green fluid for a repair if necessary.
My commander pro is fan control box, not rocket science for that product but it does find some utility

My article on coil whine has been popular for years
https://www.hardcoregames.ca/2015/05/08/some-facts-about-coil-whine/
maybe some day I will add more math and show the parts work in a PSU or a regulator on a motherboard

Which hard disk make and model is making so much noise, I have databases I can consult for specs
-
Vegan, what's up with all the blog links?
Mostly to show how I ended up with the 750D after spending some $1500 on chassis that did not last long
some fell apart after 6 months, aluminum boxes were real crap
-
The overheating set me back a lot of cash to come up with solutions.
-
When I did a build a few months ago, I used MX-4 with my H115i cooler. My CPU is about 2C above ambient even with a benchmark running. I use a very small amount of MX-4 as it spreads itself thin with thermal effects.
-
Corsair has a fan controller available to supplement the commander
I run my H115i fans from the provided headers it comes with and run my chassis fans with the commander
the extra fan controllers are handy for running a bunch of fans as seen in some extreme setups
EMI ax1600i vs hx1200i
in Build Hardware Troubleshooting

Usually the AX1600i is pretty clean with negligible EMI leaking out.
A grid dip meter can usually narrow down the frequencies
