Mike 399
I am starting my first build in 2 weeks. ASUS Sabertooth x78. I was told that Corsair CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 memory would work. When I read the X79 Qualified Vendors Llist I did not find that model but I did find CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9(XMP) I just found the Corsair memory configurator and saw where it recommended (CMZ16GX3M4X1866C9R) My problem is that I may have jumped the gun as I had alreasdy ordered the CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 (without the ®) Do you know which will work on the mother board? Additionally, I did not see the memory advertised as (XMP). Do you know what (XMP) stands for? Thanks
peanutz94
Any of the kits you have listed above would be compatible. QVL's are compiled at the time of MB testing and are very rarely updated if at all. So just because a certain kit doesn't appear doesn't mean it won't work. Additionally, I did not see the memory advertised as (XMP). Do you know what (XMP) stands for? ALL of Corsair memory will have XMP which stands for Xtreme Memory Profile. Mike 399
Thanks so much for the help. Just for info, do you know the difference between the CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 and the CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 Again, thanks so much
peanutz94
There is no difference other than how that kit is marketed. One is marketed as a quad kit, and the other is marketed as quad/dual channel. They will both perform exactly the same since dual or quad is a function of the MB and not the memory itself.
