mbdroid
Hi everybody, My current configuration is a Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 and a dual channel kit (2*2gb) of TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (pictured here http://imgur.com/wbLFU0O ). What I would like to do is buy another similar kit (pictured here: http://imgur.com/gwI1eiM ) and use them both, for a total of 4*2GB = 8GB. In my motherboard user's manual, in the memory chapter, there is a phrase written When enabling Dual Channel mode with two or four memory modules, it is recommended that memory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used and installed in the same colored DDR2 sockets for optimum performance. From this I get that the two kits should work ok, but as you can see in the pictures there are two different version (3.2 currently installed, 4.2 the one I want to buy). What do you think, should there be any problems with it? Would I be able to run them at 800MHz? (I've read some other topics where people we're suggested to run 4-modules configurations at a lower frequency) Thanks, Mircea
peanutz94
Corsair does not suggest or suport mixing kits even if they are the same part number. You can do what you like but if they do not work together there is not much Corsair could do about it. Your best bet is to get one matched kit that meets your needs.
