Memory confusion - still

Following my last post, I can find that CMP4GX3M2A1600C9 is listed for the Asus P7P55D-E LX board, but not the CMD4GX3M2A1600C9 which I have. I've also found reference to the D type being for AMD processors and P type for Intel. Then again, one site states that D type is designed for i5 and i7 processors!

Much confused:!:

That's an incorrect interpretation of the part number. Where ever you got that info from, they're REALLY REALLY wrong.

NEW Memory Part Number Breakdown

D = Dominator series

P = Dominator series with connector for Airflow Pro

So, am I right in that the memory modules are exactly the same, apart from the additional connector for Airflow Pro, and therefore the D type should have no problem with the ASUS mboard? If so, why is the D type not listed as suitable?

Scan.co.uk list the D as for AMD and P as for Intel.

The D number is not listed as suitable on either of the 2 sites you quoted and this is the cause of my confusion as to suitability. Your explanation of the D and P elements of the number seems to satisfy me.

Thanks.

Looks like CMD4GX3M2A1600C9 isn't in the memory configurator period, let alone anywhere else on the Corsair website. Website's out of date as usual.

Where does Scan.co.uk say that? Didn't see it on the product page, only in the URL:
