Aymincendiary Posted September 14, 2009 Share Posted September 14, 2009 Unganged Mode message upon POST on ASUS Crosshair mobo I am running 4GB of Corsair XMS (2 matched pairs of 2GB). I want to know what exactly this message means (I found nothing in the Crosshair book or Asus website) and if it is correctable so I can utilize the dual channel mode. Or do I have to buy a 4GB matched pair and leave two RAM slots empty to utilize the dual channel mode? Last but not least, your quad XMS RAM of 4 2GB sticks; will they run in dual channel mode even though they will fill all 4 RAM slots? This will probably be the last upgrade for this motherboard. Wired Posted September 14, 2009 Share Posted September 14, 2009 There is no such thing as Dual Channel memory, as this is a property of the memory controller in how it handles memory. This is why you can place memory in different slot configurations on a motherboard and it will register as single or dual channel. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
