Voltage Setting: TWINX2048-3200PT

Recommended Posts

I read in many places on this site that I need to manually adjust the memory timings to get the 2-3-3-6 (or 2.5-3-3-6) timings for these memory modules (TWINX2048-3200PT).

The information from the RAM guy's posts say:

Each pair is tested and packaged together using the following settings:

DRAM Clock: 200 MHz

DRAM Voltage: 2.7X Volts

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5 on AMD platform)

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4 Bank

All other settings are motherboard defaults.

I have 2 questions.

1) If I manually adjust the timings, do I NEED to set the voltage to 2.7X. The default is 2.6 Volts and it seems to work. Are the higher voltage settings only needed for overclocking?

2) In some of the RAM Guy's posts he says that memory modules used on newer AMD platforms can use the 2T setting for CAS Latency. Which are the newer platforms? I have an Athlon 64 3700+.
