DoubleVision19
Okay...This is what I got up to so far...Am I able to get better results?
CandyKid
That's looking mighty-fine so far! A little more voltage (VCore) might help, but I'd be hesitant to do it. PLUR CK
ontarian_frog
could you use cpu-z? post pics of the cpu and memory tabs. that would be more helpful for us. Looks great so far!

ontarian_frog
I will tell you right now that this is a really good overclock. you are running it 120mhz overstock at default timings with 4 modules. That in itself is almost unheard of. Did you stress test it with prime95 or memtest86?
DoubleVision19
I will tell you right now that this is a really good overclock. you are running it 120mhz overstock at default timings with 4 modules. That in itself is almost unheard of. Did you stress test it with prime95 or memtest86? Not yet...I wanted to test my rig sometime soon. Which program do you prefer? I heard that memtest86 is more accurate, but prime95 is easier to test with. FYI: I tried to create a floppy with memtest86, but was unable to. Got some kind of error. I have to check again when I get home from work today.
ontarian_frog
make a cd, it's much more reliable ;): I prefer prime95 because sometimes memtest doesn't give errors and prime 95 will. But memtest is a very good indicator when you pushed your memory too far. Plus, if you how memtest now and run into problems later, it'll be handy to troubleshoot. DoubleVision19
I finally got the ratio of 1:1 with the help of a very knowledgeable Abit staff. Here are my results.
ontarian_frog
That is sweet. Is that your CPU limit? can it go further without crashing? Note that now your ram is not the limiting factor. Only your cpu is. Try increasing the fsb slowly and when you hit a wall, back off 5 mhz, and prime for at least 8 hours.
DoubleVision19
Sorry....been busy with office work lately:mad: Maybe this weekend, I'll continue on overclocking the FSB and will post my results that time. Alohas for now:cool:
DoubleVision19
Right now, I'm in the process of OC'in my FSB. I just have one question for now. What's the maximum FSB for my CPU? Is it 800MHz? Reason why I asked is because when I reviewed my thread, I read somewhere that 266MHz is the max:confused:
ontarian_frog
266 is the max for your motherboard and 200 is the max for your processor. Overclocking is the art pushing your system beyond the max of your processor and ram. Right now your fsb is 243, therefore 43 mhz over your cpu limit. 266 for your motherboard is simply because is supports better processors like Extreme Edition processors. I'm sure your motherboard can do better. So right now the only thing limiting your fsb is your processor. Try to increase the fsb still in small increments (5mhz top). When your system becomes unstable or wont boot, bring the fsb down a notch and test with prime95 for stability.
DoubleVision19
So far, I'm stable at 250FSB VCore - 1.48V DDRV - 2.0V When I increase to 255FSB and run Super PI and it passes, but with I ran Prime95, it froze my PC. I remeber somewhere in this thread that running the CPU at 1.5V and higher is not recommended. Any suggestions?
ontarian_frog
how are your temps at 1.48vcore? You might want to google and see how high ppl are getting their 820 processors on watercooling.
DoubleVision19
When I ran Prime95, my CPU temps. didn't go over 41C. I will take your advice and do some research for my CPU's temps. with watercooling.
MGCJerry
Wow man, you're on fire. :) Excellent OC you got going on there.
DoubleVision19
Mahalos for the compliment:D: I'm still OC'in my rig. Wanna get the most out of my CPU.
DoubleVision19
Just curious now...what's the maximum DDRV for my RAM? Can I go higher than 2.0V?
ontarian_frog
Don't take my word for it, but IIRC, it's 2.1V for DDR2. You shouldn't have to increase it anymore since it's now running 1:1 with your processor and probably will not achieve 266Mz (DDR2-533) because of your cpu. DoubleVision19
Just ran a Prime95 test on my rig, and I'm stable at 255MHz...I don't know if I can go any further than that though:(:
ontarian_frog
Wow that is impressive! You should run 2 instances of prime95 (one on each core) to make sure both cores are stable.
DoubleVision19
Can I do that? I thought that running Prime95 stressed both cores at the same time? If I can run two Prime95 tests at the same time; talk about "really" burning my CPU:bigeyes: I've never heard of anyone doing this kind of test to their dualie:roll:
