aegis17
I purchased the TWINX1024-3200C2PT pack some time ago, and have been plagued with problems. I installed them in an ABIT AN8 Ultra motherboard, and got frequent blue screens when running memory-intensive apps (games, MS Word, even winamp), and occasionally while booting up. After running memtest86 for a few hours, hundreds of errors came up. Removing one module solved some of the problems - no errors came up in memtest, but the system was not totally stable either. The other module was completely bunk. I have replaced the hard drive and RMA'ed the motherboard, so I"m positive neither of those are bad. I replaced both modules with some value select ram from a well-known competitor, and the system runs flawlessly. I should also mention that I manually set all settings in the BIOS (which is the most up-to-date version- I even tried beta releases in the hopes that it might fix something), following a guide (which I found on these forums) specific to that particular motherboard. If you have any questions about my diagnosis or the specifics of the hardware I ran, please reply. Thanks.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 20, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 20, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
