laji2000
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 6000 with 512 MB(1 Dimm) and was looking to upgrade the memory. I had my sight on the Value Select memory (Part # VS512SDS533D2) but when I used the system configurator on Corsair's website, it showed me a system select memory (Part # CMSS512MB-533SOD) which is more expensive. I was wondering whether I could use the PC2-4200 Value Select memory instead of the system specific memory. Will using the Value Select memory cause any compatibility problems What exactly is the difference between Value Select and the System select memory modules? Will adding a Value Select cause the 512 MB that came with the system to run slower?
Wired
May not work at all. CMSS parts are built with a restricted bill of materials deemed to provide the best compatibility with OEM systems. As such, we often do not have the capability to use low cost material.
