600W PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR Type-4 PSU Power Cable + Corsair RMx Series RM850x

Hi, I just got a Corsair RMx Series RM850x and I would like to buy 600W PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR Type-4 PSU Power Cable ( https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/pc-components-accessories/cp-8920284/600W-PCIe-5-0-12VHPWR-Type-4-PSU-Power-Cable-cp-8920284 )

1) how do I know if my PSU is Type 4 compatible?
2) As per PCIe specs, each cable should be capable of 150W, but I see that this cable is rated 600W despite having only two cable/connectors on PSU side. Does it mean Corsair exceedes power ratings for a single cable due to the section / quality of the cable used?
3) This means that this cable is not only enough for my 4080 and it could be enough for a 4090 as well right?

Thanks to anybody that will reply and help me with my questions.

1) All the current Corsair PSUs use Type 4 cables or a mix of type 3/4, except the Shift series that has special Type 5 for its unique connection panel.

2) The 150W per PCI-e cable comes from the minimum standard for the cable type.  We've all just assumed that meant the maximum too up until recently.  However, it seems the PSU makers anticipated this.  Most of the higher end PSUs will only use a 12+4 -> 2x8 adapter even for 600W.   In order for that to work, the PSU sockets must be capable of outputting that much power and the cable must be capable of carrying it.  It seems a lot of the PSUs already were capable of this and my 6 year old Seasonic Titanium uses 2x8 as well.  Where you need to be more cautious is when you have a mid-level PSU and are buying a 3rd party adapter that has not been tested.  The lovely Nvidia hydra 4x8 cable is made to work with PSUs that only meet the minimum spec.  Corsair are guaranteeing all their Type PSUs work with this 2x8 adapter.  You probably are not looking to create some type of sustained 600W load on your GPU in conjunction with a 150W CPU load, plus all the other bells and whistles, but the cable is rated for it.  

 

3) Same cable for the 4080 or 4090.
