Gina W
Hi everyone, I'm on my way upgrading my GPU from RTX 2070 to RTX 4080. My setup is Mainboard: Designare EX with Intel i9 14 core, three SSDs and two NVMes and finally 64 GB RAM. The PSU is HX 1000 and this should be fine. The RTX needs 16 pin connection or using the adaptoer 3x8 pin. I have two 6+2 pin cables for the GPU. Is it okay to use one of the Type4 cables for the third power supply? Thanks a lot Gina
Corsair Employees Corsair Mikimbin Posted December 8, 2022 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2022 Hey there. If it's the modern HX100,You should be able to. If you have an older one, for example, the HX1000 Professional series (black and blue PSU) it would not work. Except for older PSU's (no longer sold) , The only difference between Type 3 and Type 4 cables is the pinout of the 24-pin ATX cable; all other cables (SATA, PCIe, etc) are the same.
Gina W
Thank you very much. It seems to be a modern one, as I used bothe 6+2 pin cables and a Type4 and everything seems to work as expected. Using pudget systems benchmark test for Davinci Resolve was the only test I've done for the moment. And I'm quite happy.
caius91
Hi, Is this one new enough?https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/hxi-series-2017-config/p/CP-9020139-EU It's not the blue and black one you describe but there is also a more modern version under this name. Thank you!
