Will a 38mm thickness radiator 280 fit in a 500rgb up top?

Basically I want to put an artic freezer II 280 in a corsair 500rgb, motherboard will be a msi b550 carbon if this helps.

I'm building a new system and have not yet ordered the case; slowly getting all the parts.

Radiator size: 317 x 138 x 38 mm

Dimensions: 140 x 140 x 27 mm (of the fan)

It looks like most radiators are 27-28mm in thickness ie the

HYDRO SERIES H115I PLATINUM RGB is 27mm radiator thickness

HYDRO SERIES ICUE H115I ELITE CAPELLIX RGB also 27

The Kraken Z63 is 30mm - but I havnt seen any samples of someone using this one.

I want a 280, and I want to put it up top. But if I cant fit the artic freezer II 280 up top Ill need to look at something else but this is my preferred pick.

Im pretty set on wanting a 280 but I might settle with a 240 up top.

thanks for your help.

Hi DJxput,

The clearance from the top of the motherboard to the top of the case is roughly 55-60mm, so I do not think the freezer II will fit. You can see a review of the case with measurements here: https://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cases_cooling/corsair_obsidian_500d_review/2

There is however plenty of space to mount the radiator in the front.
