Version number conflicts

Am I right in believing that mem mods are tested/matched/packed together for Twin module sets?

I just had a pair of xms3200c2pt 512mb modules returned after RMA from http://www.ebuyer.com. The original rma was because of version number issues (1.2 and 4.1)

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=4564585144&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=52471

The new mods are version 1.2 and 5.1

Im not getting any more joy out of ebuyer at the moment with an exact matched pair, so is it possible to run 1.2 and 5.1 on a different timing setting?

Thanks

Main board is Asus A7N8Xe deluxe and AMDXP3200 Barton

Yep, TwinX are always the same part # / revision #.

That link doesn't work. Couldn't find any TwinX1024-3200C2 (or the PT variety) on their site ATM either. You MAY be able to run the 1.2 and 5.1 at loose timings together, but from the recent posts I've read about people trying that, I don't think it would work, the ICs are too far apart in difference I guess.

Sorry about the link... works for me, maybe its in my pcs cache... or something.

About those loose timings, can you give me an indication as to what LOOSE is

The auto mem settings on my board set 3338. From a previous post I found they should be manually set to 2.5336 if memory serves correct for the AMD.

I tried previously setting to higher vpu without being able to post, so Id rather keep that to stock.

Interesting: You're a Corsair moderator, yet you are running Crucial memory.

Try 3-4-4-8, as that's as loose as it can get :)

Hehe, no one ever notices that in my sig :) My main rig is actually an Asus A8V / 3400+ / Corsair TwinX1024-3500C2 / ATI 9600XT 128 MB, and my laptop has 1 GB of the Value Select memory in it. I've got so many systems I frankly don't know what half the parts are in them anymore lol.
