CyFi
As the title says, will the sleeved cable set for the ax1200 work with the ax760i? Everything I have read says no, but if that is the case, why? What is so different about the pin out between the ax1200 and the ax760i that causes the cables to be incompatible with each other? Also, if no one has a definitive answer...what would happen if I used the cables with my ax760i but they weren't compatible? Would I fry my PSU? CyFi
I managed to find another thread: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?p=634225 in it, the user claims that the ax1200 pin out is the same as the axi series pin out. Also, he attached a picture showing his 24-pin as saying ax/axi only. So, if he is right, would that mean that all the cables ARE actually compatible or is he wrong? CyFi
For those wanting to know: The 24-pin for the ax1200 is the same as the axi 24-pin. All other cables are not compatible.
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted December 30, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 30, 2014 The AX1200 uses unique cables for the CPU/PCIe and the SATA/Molex. I believe the 24-pin is different too, but I'm not 100% sure. It's sold on the Corsair website as a different part # than the rest.
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted December 30, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 30, 2014 Ok... I just checked the cable from an AX1200 and a "Type 3" (AXi, RM, HXi) and they are pinned the same. Only difference is the Type 3 has a +3.3V sense wire and that's not used on the AX1200, but this shouldn't have an effect on anything.
