musicman53
Hi, while I am no newbie regarding building computers and overclocking, I have never used 1600 ram before now. I have had it running in my Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 at 1600mhz but have not really seen a difference than when using 1333mhz ddr3 ram. Is it possible to run this ram at 1333mhz with tighter timings? CPU is an AMD FX 4300
sandstorm1
from what i know (I am not a ram expert) yes you can. I dont think it will speed things up to the point that you will see significant improvements. others will know more than i do and will have a right/better answer. emissary42
The CML4GX3M2A1600C9 should have a profile for DDR3-1333 in their SPD. You can use that as a starting point for your work on tightening the timings. There are some applications that really like memory speed though, like compression/decompression tools.
