Reporting Corsair Link GUI bugs

Here is some free QA for Corsair.

I will be reporting GUI bugs I find in this thread. There are lots of them, some of them very annoying.

Hope some of them get fixed in the near future...

C'mon Corsair, having beautiful software is even more important than having beautiful hardware, because you stare at the screen more than at your hardware.

I am using the 2.4.5110 currently

Service Status showing me tooltip about some mail server

Unpinned CPU Load and Configuration panes go beyond window border if I move it partially beneath the task bar

(if someone thinks that's not a bug, try it out in MS visual studio and also consider this: When I move my window below taskbar, I probably do so to view what's beneath it. But the stupid pane harms me doing so)

After you expand some element in Options > Devices, the expander and divider get misaligned. This one needs 2 screenshots

Expected: they should be static.

Here comes a couple more:

There is a case when the Skin field is blank and not showing me what skin I am currently using:

1. Go to Options > General and press "Reset to default"

2. Attempt to close the window

3. When prompted for saving profile, agree and specify profile name

4. Launch the program again and go to Options > General

Result: The Skin drop down list is empty

Expected: It should show my current skin

The right hand Configuration pane doesn't hide when I click on a check box or drop down list:

0. Have right hand configuration pane unpinned

1. Go to General > Options

2. Click on the pane title to open it

3. Click on any check box or drop down list on the options screen

Result: the pane is still open

Expected: the pane closes

On Options > General, check boxes activation zone is too large. When clicking mouse somewhere in the right side of the screen (just because you're bored and want some clicking somewhere), you activate the check boxes

This one goes without a screenshot. That's an annoying usability bug

The CPU load and Configuration tabs are opened instantly on hovering. They should have a delay to protect from accidental mouse hovering (i think something like 300ms will be good)

This is especially annoying when you open "Configuration" and accidentally hover the CPU Load pane - it opens absolutely instantly!

Another bug about the CPU Load \ Configuration panes.

If the window is not focused, and you click on them they won't open. The window will get focus, the pane title will be highlighted with light grey (at least for Light skin), but the pane won't open. To open it, you have to move mouse away from it and then move mouse over it again.

Expected: the pane should open when I click on it. Disregarding if the window wasn't focused before.

If you press tab key (to switch between controls) you'll find that after "CPU Load" the next tab stop is some weird rectangle which selects some invisible control. It doesn't activate it...

Talking of tabulation and tab stops. This is absolutely a mess. Non-activatable items get a tab stop (for example, the top row tab bar has 2 stops for each tab: the tab itself and the text inside it, and the whole screen has a tab stop; in the gauges on the Groups tab, each number and icon has a tab stop). The CPU Load and Configuration side panes are not opened when I highlighted them with TAB and press Spacebar or Enter key

Expected: only items that I can activate should have a tabulation stop. Pressing space or enter key must activate current selected item. Tabulation should go from left to right, from top to bottom (unless I am supposed to fill a form or something so I should fill the fields in a specific order)

Mouse wheel scrolling doesn't work On System screen, left hand pane (with gauges) and on Groups screen (the list of groups), and on Options > Devices tab when cursor is at the device information details

Expected: Mouse wheel should scroll the content.

Update: LOL, i've just found out that scrolling via mouse wheel works if you move the cursor over the scroll boxes. Of course, that is still a bug. Scrolling should occur when the cursor is inside the area that is supposed to be scrolled

Clicking on any area on the Graph tab opens the Configuration pane, but with a delay.

Because of this, I had a hard time understanding how the hell that pane is supposed to be opened.

Moreover, when i click on the pane, choose the devices which I would like to see on the graph and then move my mouse over the graphs, the side pane won't close! (I guess that's because the whole area of the graphs acts as an activation for the Configuration pane; the idea is good, but the implementation is bad)

How it could work without these annoyances:

The graph area should only be responsible to clicking. Clicking should open\close the configuration pane without any delay (instantly). The "Configuration" button should work as it currently is (i.e. open on hover; but with a delay, according to some previous bug that I posted)

When Closing the program without any profiles set up and creating one, there is a fade out animation played twice which significantly slows down program closing.

To reproduce:

1. Delete all the profiles

2. Reset to default settings

3. Close Corsair Link

4. When prompted to save changes to current profile, press "yes"

5. Input any profile name and press OK

Result: The first animation is the profile name message box fading out. The second animation is "save changes" prompt animation.

This looks weird and the program closes too long.

Expected:

When I press "Yes" on step 4, the "save changes" message box should close before opening the new message ox with profile name. This would remove the weird double-animation encounter

Hi All,

I noticed two more so thought i would ad them here:

-Resizing the window does not move the icons properly n the system overview. I just did it a sec ago and some icon moved themselves to the configuration overview and then don't pop back.

-Hitting the X to close does not drop the icon into sys tray, this is a worry at first. I can see the software is still running in the Task Manager...just not in the sys tray.

Cheers, gMike

try deselecting ''snap to grid'' in options to set the icons where you want them

agree with gMike - that's very annoying.

wytnyt - already had "Snap to grid" disabled. Also tried enabling didn't change anything

I feel like this stupid dashboard just doesn't work with resizing and I have no idea how it should...

I just use the "Groups" page.
