Motherboard fan not showing

Skylaw

Recommended Posts

Link will only see the case fans that are connected to and reported by the motherboard, and sometimes one or two don't show up. That said, Link can't control any fans that aren't connected to the Link device (in this case the H110i GT) in the first place.

Yes, all 4 fans are connected in ruining well. Aida64 see fan 1,2,3,4 and I can see the speed variation with no problem. I simultaneously open Link and only 3 fans are dedected fan 1,2 and 4 fan 3 is not different then the other fan. Same type.

The system in http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=805421 has the same issue (and a few others) and it's caused by 8 System 2B being reported via the EC (Embedded Controller). It's often the case that AIDA64 reports EC connected fans when CL does not and suspect your missing fan is reported via the EC.

BTW it would be easier for others to help you if you added your PC specs to your profile.

Am not sure I understand what you are saying? Is there a way to correct this?

On some ASUS motherboards some of the fans are reported via the EC rather than the ISA sensor chip. For CL to report these the CPUID SDK would need to get updated.

I could tell more if you attached the AIDA64 Sensor Debug -> ISA Sensor Dump + -> Embedded Controller Dump information. To generate these Right/Click in the status bar. It would also be handy to have the SIV sensor debug information, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=788225 for how to generate this.

Looking at the dump the area in yellow contains the fan speeds in RPM. Out of the six possible five are present, so CL should report five. I suspect there must be a bug in the CPUID SDK and were it my system after confirming that the SIV [Cooling Status] panel reported all five fans I would report this bug via https://corsair.secure.force.com/ and ask for it to be fixed.

I suspect that HWM (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) may also have this issue as it also uses the CPUID SDK, though it may use a later version in which the bug has been fixed. If it does then you could also report this directly to the CPUID SDK developers. Either way with luck CL will eventually use the corrected CPUID SDK.

CPU_OPT : 0 RPM 00 00

I suspect the RPM and hex dump reading must be taken at different times which is why they are slightly different.

As you did not include the SIV sensor debug information the above are my suspicions and I would need the SIV information to be 100% sure. The CPUID SDK failing to report a fan attached via the NCT6791 is very strange and I find it hard to see how this has not been noticed and fixed a long time ago, then again CL + HWM (the CPUID SDK) only report 4 of my 6 motherboard fans and although I reported this over a year ago it has not been fixed.

So the fan in the bottom is a Virtual fan that is the sum of the 2 H110 fan? Because it doesn't exist, I have no fan truly running at that speed.

I am wondering if some of your motherboard fans are getting reported twice as I have seen this before. Do you get similar to http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=805421?

1030 + 1042 = 2072 which is not 2307 anyway.

This is the fan I have in my casing

1 Front

1 Front

1 Bottom

1 Back

+ 2 Top from H110

I've connected the 1 black wire from the H110 the the CPU fan connector on my motherboard

So it report me that I have a CPU fan running at 2xxx RPM but there's nothing running at that speed

I think this is what you've ask

Thank you for the screen shot and text file, but I suspect the screen shot below does not show all the fans. Move items from the left column 'till there is no scroll bar and make the panel slightly taller 'till there is no right scroll bar.

I expect there will be a ASUSTek Motherboard CPU Fan that also reports 2323, which is the same as what happens in http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=805421.

Given the reporting accuracy the H110iGT Pump Speed of 2345 is the same as 2323 CPU Aux Fan speed. I expect if you change the pump speed the CPU Aux Fan speed will change, does it?

I suspect there are at least two issues:

  • Chassis #3 missing
  • The CPU fan being reported twice

I don't know how to change the Pump speed but I can tell you that they are always very close together 0020 is as far as they get from each other.

Click on the H10iGT pump and a setup panel should popup on the right. Set RPM mode and then select a different RPM.

I think there must be two bugs in the CPUID SDK:

  1. The CPU Fan is reported as CPU Aux Fan.
  2. Fan #3 is not reported at all.

Log a call via https://corsair.secure.force.com/ and ask for it to be fixed.

As Corsair Dustin has mentioned, "Link will only see the case fans that are connected to and reported by the motherboard, and sometimes one or two don't show up. That said, Link can't control any fans that aren't connected to the Link device (in this case the H110i GT) in the first place. "
