adehaan968cs
Okay so here is the very strange problem.... I've had the problem that steam stops responding whenever I plug in a peripheral now for over a month. The steam client does repiar itself and will continue to crash until I restart the PC. The only way to use a controller or my wheel is to plugin my controller before the client starts. Today I came to the conclusion that the CUE causes steam to crash. If I disable the service I can plugin any controller, wheel, pedals without Steam crashing. If I start the service manually and plugin a controller the client crashes 9/10 times instantly. The other 1/10 is when I unplug the controller. Are there any other people with this issue? I've tried the driver versions: 2.8.70 and 1.16.42. Please do note if something isn't clear. It's hard to decribe the problem.
terabyte
What controller are we talking about exactly? For example I use a Xbox One controller and I have never noticed any issues.
adehaan968cs
Xbox One controller, Fanatec CSL Elite Base and Thrustmaster TH8A shifter. Whenever the CUE starts and I plug in any other USB controller Steam crashes.
terabyte
Oh, so the same controller I use. Which version do you have? I have the wireless version. Do you have the USB cable one maybe?
adehaan968cs
Yes I use USB. But that shouldn't matter right? Since it also happens with my wheel?
terabyte
Not sure what to tell you, my windows installation is honestly quite messed up. I have upgraded it from Win 7 several times: 8, 8.1, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2. I've kept delaying a full format but I have never had any CUE/Steam trouble so far. You might have another driver that interferes and causes the crash, if you send your crash/dump log to Corsair they can analyze it and possibly track down the root cause. adehaan968cs
Where do I find that option since Steam is the program that crashes. Does CUE even make a dump?
adehaan968cs
Okay so I did a clean install of Windows and istalled nothing but CUE, Steam and the AMD graphics driver. It still crashes. There has to be something wrong with it right? I can't think of anything else.......
Toasted
Have you tried looking at Event Viewer and finding entries related to Steam? They may provide an idea as to what's causing Steam to crash.
adehaan968cs
I looked everywhere but I can't find anything. Maybe it's because the client does respond again after a while. Any idea on where to look in event viewer?
Champicool
I have the same problem
Toasted
@adehaan968cs If there are entries, they will usually be found in Event Viewer>Windows Logs>Applications. Your current issue is quite similar to the thread below; http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3305782
adehaan968cs
I tried it once more and I actually did find the error at the location you described @toasted. Thanks for that. I made a ticket last week and corsair is looking into the issue. Hope it will be resolved soon.
