Kyoto
Hi, At present I have 2x2Gb of CMP4GX3M2A1600C8 modules running on DX48BT2 Intel chipset @ 1600 Mhz and would like to upgrade to CMP8GX3M2A1600C9 2x4Gb modules. But checking X48 chipset specifications, does not give me a firm answer if I can use 4 Gb memory modules, only 2 of them since max memory supported on controller is 8Gb Question is will architecture of modules: CMP8GX3M2A1600C9 support following requirements. Board Official Supports: Configuration: Double Sided SDRAM Density: 1 Gbit Organization: 128 M x 8/128 M x 8 from Intel: Using 1 Gb device technologies, the largest memory capacity possible is 8 GB, assuming Dual Channel Mode with four x8 double sided un-buffered non-ECC or ECC DIMM memory configurations. Note: The ability to support greater than the largest memory capacity is subject to availability of higher density memory devices. thanks for an answer in advance, regards Kyoto
Kyoto
most part answered myself in this post, while tested some Vengance modules on X48 chipset: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=100396
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted November 10, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 10, 2011 The Intel X38, and X48 chipsets only support memory made with 128 By 8 memory IC's so our Vengeance modules are not compatible with any of these older chipsets and they will only support 2.0 Gig modules according to the Intel White papers for the chipsets.
