PSU causing coil whine in GPUs?

Hi All,

I have a Corsair AX1200i PSU in my PC and I recently upgraded to SLI GTX 970s. I know that 970s are fairly notorious for their coil whine, but both of my new cards produce an almost identical whine - I've tested by removing each one at a time and running them solo.

I've read that a misbehaving PSU can cause other components to exhibit coil whine - With both of my cards suffering, is there anything else I should test before RMAing one or all of my products?

Thanks!

GTX 970's are pretty bad when it comes to coil whine. I had 2 EVGA SSC's that were really loud and I tried them with my current AXi and the old HX it replaced. With both PSU's it was overwhelming. I used the upgrade to send them back and get a set of the FTW's. Even those still have some noise, but its not overpowering like the others. Again, using the old HX did not solve the problem. I highly doubt its the PSU.
