buglitter
Hi, Frys.com is selling this PC6400 800 MHz kit, CM4GSDSKIT800D2 G. However, I can't find this part listed at Corsair.com. What is special about this part? Is it any different than the value line? Because I really want to upgrade the memory, from 667 to 800Mhz, of my Dell XPS-1530, which has an Intel T8300 and 2GB PC5300, I would like to know if it is compatible. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted May 12, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 12, 2010 Those would be a 2x2GB kit of 800MHz DDR2 So-Dimms. Unfortunately your laptop is listed to only support 4GB of 667MHz. I would recommend using the VS4GBKIT667D2 kit.
buglitter
Thank you for the response. According to Dell, XPS-1530 supports 667/800 Mhz up to 4GB. Dell suggest me to upgrade (after I entered my laptop service number) the RAM to PC6400 800Mhz. If Dell's RAM is compatible with their laptop, is the kit above compatible? buglitter
It's crystal clear. Appearently, Dell XPS-1530 will take PC6400 800Mzh RAM, but it will down clock the speed to 667 Mhz, due to the limitation of the Intel mobile 965 chipset. However, there is some good news: the XPS will handle up to 8GB of RAM with current firmware (A12 for 1530).
