Revan654
Putting a PC together for the first time and ran into a small glitch. Excuse the first timer questions. I was installing Corsair H100i one cable requires a USB 2.0 header, all my USB 2.0 headers are taken. Is USB cable needed? Don't want to fry my CPU, if all it does talk to Corsair link software. I will leave it out. I have Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard, I'm only seeing two USB 2.0 headers unless I'm not see it. I'm pretty sure I can set fan speeds in the bios too. Is it possible to connect it to one of the outside USB 2.0 ports if I don't have a extra USB 2.0 header?
red-ray
I would get a NZXT IU01 USB Expansion (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3610454783...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT).
Ananais
I think it is possible to run it without the link cable, but i wouldn't recommend it, seem to recall reading that the fans will always want to run at max if you do it. As above, I would recommend the USB expansion board, much better option than not connecting the link cable.

Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted April 28, 2015 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 28, 2015 You can definitely use a conventional mini-USB cable to just connect your H100i directly to one of the USB ports in your I/O cluster.
