A lot of inspiration came from "A Story of a Flying Fortress", a documentary about the 25th and last bombing mission of a B17, the "Memphis Belle". The "Memphis Belle" took part in a great bombing raid on sub-pens in Wilhelmshafen, Germany. On their way they encountered heavy AA fire and interceptors. I'll be going with different Pin-up Nose Art tho...

Thats Badass! :D: ....whats tucked in the corner? Retro style Radio or Amp?

The side panels are ready for airbrushing and graphics. I will start by adding Bomb KILLS on the lower panel and USAF Insignia on upper right corner.

Thanks Mike! My modding friend, FannBlade offered his fabrication skills to create replica scale wwII Bomb from scratch, using all aluminum. The replica will be suspended in the front intake, and for those interested, this could be designed as liquid cooling reservoir too, FannBlade is imagining an acrylic tube inserted and the fittings out the back side and make top removable.

I've been a fan of FannBlade's fab work for several years, his background focuses on metal fabrication for street rod and racing cars, so I was honored when he offered to make this replica for me. It was his decision to dump the foam for the aluminum. You can see why it would make a nifty reservoir, but that would have to be stainless, not aluminum. otherwise we pondered idea of seating an acrylic res inside this aluminum core.

Thank you! Fannblade sanded down the pop rivets back side and filled the holes with JB weld and used a 2 part urethane primer surfacer after a quick dose of metal prep. I've handed the replica to everyone to hold... and it puts a smile on everyone's face....

I made holder for replica wwII bomb. This will mount it over two of the front 120mm intake fan. Made from 1/16" thick steel that I bent, fastened together with 1/8" pop rivets. Mounting screw holes are spaced 15mm. I painted if Flat Black Enamel paint to match the finish on the Corsair 900D.
