bbbl67
So I have a SATA-III interface, Force 3 240GB SSD, Firmware 5.05 (latest I believe). SMART shows SSD Life Left at 96%. When this drive was new it was showing 500 MB/s+ sequential reads, through Crystal Disk Mark, but now it's showing merely half of that at 205 MB/s. Other benchmarks are showing the same thing. It almost seems like it's running at SATA-II speeds rather than SATA-III. I have a second newer SATA SSD which sees over 450 MB/s+, as this drive used to at one point. What could be causing this? As the SSD ages out, will I be seeing this speed keep going down from SATA-II speeds to SATA-I speeds? 😕
Corsair Employee Corsair CJ Posted September 2, 2020 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 2, 2020 Have you tried swapping SATA cables for your Force drive? It could be a cable going bad. SSDs also tend to degrade in performance as they get fuller, however I do not know the current state of your SSD.
