Lyra101 Posted April 15, 2019 Share Posted April 15, 2019 Hello Guys, I have the problem, that my K60 keyboard randomly died on me today. I shut down my pc yesterday and it worked completely fine, when I started my pc today it was completely dead. It's not even registered by the pc. The capslock, etc. leds are also not working. I also tested the keyboard on different computers with the same result. The thing that really bugs me about this, is that I had a K60 before that died exactly the same way. Also just out of the blue. At that time I had the keyboard not even for one year so I got a replacement one from the shop I bought it from. My current K60 is over 2 years old, so there is no chance of it beeing replaced, sadly. My question here is whats the issue behind the K60 keyboards randomly dying and is there any way to fix the Keyboard? I really loved the Keyboard, especially the bare aluminum look, so I really want to revive it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Corsair Employee Corsair Calico Jack Posted April 19, 2019 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 19, 2019 We wouldn't be able to estimate a reason for why your keyboard failed without actually having it in front of us, but we would suggest trying to hold down the Esc key while plugging it in. If that doesn't work, it could be a failure in the cable, the board, or a chip somewhere. Perhaps it's being overvolted. Lyra101 Posted May 2, 2019 Author Share Posted May 2, 2019 Thank you for your reply. Sadly holding the Esc key while plugging it in did not help. I opened the keyboard and checked if there is a bad connection inside the cable by measureing each wire, but the cable seems to be fine. I also measured the voltage on the USB port where the keyboard was plugged in and it reads 4.98V which should be fine. Would it help if I send the keyboard to Corsair? (I'm located in Germany) But if there is no chance of it beeing repaired/replaced, I'd rather keep it and scavange the parts that are working. We probably don't even have the real parts lying around anymore to repair it. If it was in warranty, then we'd offer a warranty replacement. Beyond that, not much we can do.
