Hi there!
Need a small help 🙂
I have recently installed on my home server the HX1200 power supply (replaced from HX850 to HX1200) and have detected an unusual behavior:
I need to clarify one technical thing related to this power supply, it may be a new feature but I want to double check if it is not a fault.
There is a power line called +5VSB on all power supplies, and usually it has a fall time of approximately 12-20 seconds after switching mains (240V/110V) off.
I did have it like this on all power supplies before: Thermaltake power supplies, ASUS power supplies, CORSAIR (HX1200, HX850, RM1000), basically when you disconnect power cable, you can see either RGB on motherboard or some LEDs still have power for 10-20 seconds and it is usually an indication that the capacitor on power supply doing its job, as it should.
** On this new HX1200 this line(+5VSB) power downs in 1 second after mains power is switched off. Which is completely new to me. It may be how it is supposed to be but I just want to clarify, if it runs correctly or not, I just want to make sure that the power supply will run for at least 6 years+.
** On my old HX1200 (bought in 2019) which is installed in my gaming rig, it has +5VSB power down time of approximately 13 seconds.
I have also shot small videos
HX1200 (new one) Power down of +5VSB line: https://youtu.be/cuI_HHIIp14 (power down of the +5VSB line is 1 second)
HX850 (old one) Power down of +5VSB line: https://youtu.be/vA9FzxoEJW0 (power down of the +5VSB line is 15+ seconds)
I'm really sorry for this but need clarification if it is NORMAL or NOT. Apart from this power supply working fine.
And there is no LOAD on +5VSB line, except the Motherboard and this LED on Motherboard, no USB devices connected. (approximate load is ~20mA)
P. S. Sorry about my English, not a first language 🙂
Warmest regards
Kir
