  1. I don't want to sound like an asshole, but it's certainly disgusting for iCUE to do this C:\CUE5\ProgramData\logs
  2. I have utmost respect for all programmers with perfectionist compulsions, but the scope of your discussion should be more fundamental. As a regular user, I only care why iCUE as a background lighting control program on boot takes up such high memory for its purpose. It also likely interferes with other software's normal operation. This is exactly where I doubt the software engineering capabilities of corsair.
  3. Additionally, you need to think about this from an iCUE functionality perspective. For me, it's just a background program on boot to control RGB lighting and nothing more. 300-500+ MB is definitely heavy and unacceptable. Forum posts have reflected various crash and instability instances caused to other programs. So I have uninstalled it today until they can come up with a lighter-weight, more stable approach.
  4. This exposes the difference between us - you seem to only care about Windows' own memory footprint while I have to worry about the pressure on memory when running my professional software concurrently. There is no math issue to discuss here. You need to understand iCUE is a piece of software with increasing memory usage over time. The 300MB+ occupancy on boot may be a small fraction for 32GB, but that cannot be a reason to allow iCue's high memory usage. We need to analyze this issue rationally from the user experience perspective. People have an instinctive negative reaction to the first Task Manager information they see. But this shows the importance of memory usage to users.
  5. I did. What's the problem? Who isn't looking at memory usage in task manager? Do you think MS Task Manager memory usage is inaccurate? (and it's usage continues to rise) Or have you written a tool that can look at it that is superior to Microsoft's engineers? I don't understand what you mean by 'persuasive argument'. None of the windows background programs and services you say I don't use (the very things that keep the software running) have a higher footprint than iCUE, which is why it's at the top of the list. If you think the tiny 11 kind of OS that removes most of the functionality is better, unless you're a person who only uses the paint and browses the web, then it's for you. Unfortunately I have to keep a lot of professional software running stably, which is why I'll wait for windows 11 LTSC later next year. iCUE is definitely getting bloated and must be optimized anyway.
  6. Finally someone who is willing to talk quietly instead of mocking, Merry Christmas to everyone who is at peace with themselves. I do agree that the biggest value of MS RGB is to give an API solution, if it makes things easier why not? I also know that iCUE can do more than just lighting, it includes a lot of advanced controls, and users like me who have all Corsair hardware except for CPU, MB and hard disk know this very well. A solution that is reliable and limited to lighting, refuses to be bloated, for that alone I believe MS RGB is better for me, just like I use the logitech mx master 3 but I never download the drivers for it, keeps it simple right out of the box. Yes, maybe I should also consider expanding the memory to 64gb, eventually.
  7. And don't take for granted that MS RGB is a kid toy, it's built into the system, takes up a small amount of memory and has a growing number of supporters. In the future the most of RGB control will probably be taken over by WIN12, just as you don't need a mouse driver today. Today ASRock announced that its motherboards already support MS RGB.
  8. Yea, it will get heavier over time and I don't want to pay 500+ RAM for an RGB software. That's why I'm posting this.
  9. Honestly, you are acting very much like a Corsair defender with offensive language, why doing this? And I'm just curious to ask if it's possible to optimize memory usage or try to work with Microsoft like Razer did. If by your standards every user asking a question needs to understand coding techniques or they are all offended by the language? Just go and do something more meaningful in your life, I don't want to fetch arguments like a child.
  10. Most people can't escape Chrome, Windows Defender in their lifetime, but maybe someone can put down iCUE now. If your response represents the official word, then I'm disappointed to get that instead of ideas to optimize the code for the better. I won't buy any more Corsair products, last week my case dust filter cracked but couldn't get an aftermarket warranty, their answer was we don't make and sell this part separately, I had to buy a new case to replace the part, this service is simply hell just like its forums. I've been using Corsair parts exclusively on every PC I've had since 2016, but Today it makes me feel very sick. So this thread is closed, just do not reply again.
  11. Contrary to what you're saying, my PC has a top of the of hardware with nice looking white RAM (DOMINATOR), motherboard and case, at least by 2021. I'd prefer an official developer to check the memory usage issue compared to your superficial answer, a lot of great software with have very little memory usage and awesome UI, some of them can do more than iCue. I often need to run multiple design programs at the same time (Houdini, Blender, Zbrush, Photoshop, etc.) and with that in mind, any software that starts up at boot should use less memory. Just don't be naive and think that anyone complaining about memory usage should upgrade their PC.
  12. Close to 300 memory mb usage, why not consider optimizing it or just using Microsoft lighting control like Razer?
