Hi LazyT. I had to RMA my Corsair Scimitar at the beginning of this year as the scroll wheel was "free spinning" inhibiting the functionality of scrolling. As of this week, 9 months later, I am receiving the problem you are now To Corsair Crimson, I understand that Corsair believes in their products and I did have a pleasant time with Corsair support last time, but I would hesitate to say that there are no manufacturing problems with the Scimitar series. I hope This helps someone else
