  1. That's what I figured. I asked if zotty has all the rgb fans leds and so on going to the one PSU because I'm not sure it can handle it. Otherwise I am stumped on why my fans keep going faulty and flickering ruining the entire chain. I have 3 CoPros in my build to split the control of lighting.
  2. I am pretty sure I may have asked you this before but you have all your leds going to the one PSU 5v rail right? I've been troubleshooting for months and can't seem to find the source of my constantly breaking ll120 rgbs. I've replaced fans and hubs, and did all the checks to find sources of problems and it just all leads back to something with the PSU or the Fans themselves. I'm going to have to start again with a new PSU and 30 new fans and quite possibly all the wiring to maybe solve this problem :[pouts:
  3. I have, taken my system apart, replaced the fans with new ones put it all back together and a few weeks later maybe a month or so. I have faulty LEDs on multiple fans throughout the case. I made sure there weren't too many fans on one sata plug and made sure no y splitters were used and now hundreds of £ worth of fans are broken again. I'm lost on what could be causing this and I'm not rich enough to replace constantly malfunctioning fans. It seems that my custom Obsidian 1000D may have to become an ugly standard fan case :( Any ideas from anyone would be a huge help :greencry:
  4. Yup I got told haha. Thanks though... I hope I can find a reason why the LEDs went bust in the first place. I'm just glad it's not because of incompatibility :)
  5. Could heat cause the LEDs to go faulty cause I had one hell of a warm summer here and my room easily hit the 30 celsius mark and the radiators in this monster to which the fans are attached must have gotten mega toasty?
  6. Wow, I was being reeaaallly stupid haha. I thought you meant the plug that goes into the PSU at the end of the sata cable, not each individual sata connector haha :rofl:. My bad! I definitely don't use y splitters on the sata lines, that would be far too scary for my system :bigeyes: Well that still leaves me with a problem, why did 5 LEDs in 5 of my fans go faulty around the same time :eyebuldge Thanks for helping ease my mind about the sata lines, I have no worries now other than, will more of my fans keep dying on me :dunno: Enjoy your day off with the build bud!
  7. Dev you have eased my mind beyond belief :). That means I have not damaged my fans due to overloading 5v rail. I'm sure the AX1600i's 5v rail is rated to 30A which I'm almost sure I can't be exceeding unless the COPROS are pulling from that rail too :bigeyes: If it's not overloading then Im still baffled as to why I lost 5 RGB fans so quickly and roughly around the same time. Thank you guys for giving the time to reply to me.
  8. You've got me confused haha. I have had 2 or more hubs attached to a single sata power cable which goes to the same plug no? This exceeds the limit. There is just not enough peripheral slots on the PSU to have them all separate on 1 system. Have you still got this part to figure out too? Ohhh that must be frustrating working so much knowing it's waiting to be complete! :confused: Enjoy it tomorrow :)
  9. I have tried rearranging things but I still end up exceeding the 4.5A limit on sata cables. There's just not enough, slots on my PSU. Makes me sad that my build just may not be possible :'(
  10. Hey Zotty, I have had my build up and running for around 4 or 5 months now. Not that much different to yours in the cooling side of things 30 rgb fans in mine :D. I did run into an issue this quickly though possibly due to powering the RGBs. A few fans have needed replaced already due to faulty RGBs. This may be because I exceeded the 4.5A power limit on the sata cables connecting the hubs to PSU. I learned this the hard way but this isn't 100% but just to avoid the possibility of this being the cause... How did you power up all your hubs without putting them on the same cables? :bigeyes:? By the way, nice work with yours... It's a hellova job eh? :D:
  11. Okay, so I have 30 fans in this case. 3 COPROS, 5 hubs and a lighting node pro... What would you suggest if it were you trying to power these because I certainly can't have them all on separate lines, I'd need 2 PSUs for just the 1 system.
  12. I just checked and there are a few attached to the sata power. However I also have 4 SSDs and I just don't have enough peripheral power slots on my AX1600i PSU to have 1 hub individually on a line. What can I do :(:
  13. Ohhhh :bigeyes: Now that may be something worth checking. I can't remember how I wired up the power to these hubs but I do have a lot of fans and 4 or 5 hubs. I doubt I would have been able to fit all the hubs on one line but if I have more than 2 (12 fans) then there's a possibility of some overdraw? Best solution? I may not even have enough peripheral slots on my PSU because of the amount of components in the PC :(:
  14. I have started a RMA now. I was just wondering if there may be a cause for this as it seems unlikely it should happen :(: I would like to avoid having to completely drain my custom loop and refill that frequently as this may increase the likelyhood of leaks :eek:. Thank for the advice though, I'm glad you folks are taking the time to troubleshoot this with me:D:
  15. I have multiple different fan hubs and I did try different ones to check if it was the hub and not the fans. I know the hub works fine and other fans that are fully functional chain together no problem on it. The fact that they were all faulty around the same time is the part that is confusing me too... I will buy replacements this time but I want to avoid this happening every 5 months where I need to buy 5 fans at around £100 :eek:
  16. Yes of course. 5 fans in total. Fan 1: Front of case. 2nd in series on lighting hub. When fan 1 is plugged in the fans that follow in the series become all glitchy flickering. Swap fan 3 and 4 to put them before the 2nd in series and faulty RGB fan 1 at the last slot in series. The rest of the fans are perfect and the last fan (fan 1) has a little flickering led at one side that must have been the root cause. All other faulty fans have the same failing LED problem just not as obvious. The rest are on the top of the case. In a series of 6 fans... Swapped a few fans around in the series to see which ones ruin the lighting loop same as with fan 1 and discovered that 3 different fans in the link stop any lighting occurring after them in the series. Also used some new spare fans I have to test this one by one. Plugged faulty fan into slot one and slot 2 with new fan doesn't light. Put good fan into slot one and slot 2 works fine. Hope this helps. The fans are mechanically sound just lighting problems and this is vital in such a bling, customised expensive PC :sunglasse
  17. Earlier this year I built a custom cooled PC. The Obsidian 1000D. So this means a lot of fans and a lot of money. However probably 5-6 months of use later and 5 of my LL120 fans (Only the RGB LEDs to be precise) are faulty, out of 30 so 1/6 fans breaking every 5 months is gonna be expensive maintenance... Anybody got any ideas why this may be happening? Thanks folks in advance :eek:
  18. I learned the hard way about the push/pull 420 on the top not fitting so this is why I need the 4x120mm fan tray that seems like it will never be back in stock. I'm gonna use a 360mm rad on top instead. Ohh, 2x140 fan don't fit the case? The spec sheet said it should too. Damn that's a freakin shame. Well time to purchase more 120's 😑 Thanks for the heads up 😁
  19. Woah, well if that's what it takes, it must be done. Already spent £k's on this so a bit extra to make it work will be fine :D. Do I just search for Devbiker or does he have a store? That's gonna be a tonne of cables, pwm and rgb. My cable management will probably cause me to go insane :''D. Thanks for the help
  20. Hey zotty. Been reading through this thread and it's got some great ideas and really helpful info. I'm glad there are others experiencing this almighty task of building the 1000d. I am going to be doing a custom loop in my build with push pull configs on 3 rads... Overkill i know :D I have hit a few snags though, the fan tray at the top I do need a 4x120mm if I wanna fit it all in and they are all out of stock of course. So I'm delayed again. Since I'm delayed I came here to learn some more stuff and I'm glad i did. I will also need lots of fan cable extensions and probably another copro (i have 2 already). I'm going to have 24 fans: 22 ll120s and 2 ll140s How many fan extensions do you think I'll need :O. I really hope I don't get bankrupted by this haha :') Thanks
