  1. the old SP120 RGB are not compatible with iCUE at all.

They use another RGB chip type (UCS1903) to what became the standard later on when ARGB started to get popular (WS2812).

Basically, the LNCore can't talk to the SP120 fans at all. These are made to be used with a dedicated controller that is manual control only, no iCUE connectivity.

Not to be confused with SP120 PRo RGB which are compatible with iCUE.

So, your options are to either use the SP120 controller if you have it, or upgrade to another fan model.

Have a look at Zotty's guide on iCUE ecosystem, it should help a lot

My 6 SP120's work fine with iCUE and have since its inception.

  2. Yes you're right the Commander Pro does what the Node Pro does and more (more being fan PWM ports, temperature probes and USB passthrough points). So yes, you can get a commander pro and add your new fans to it. Just note that the smaller RGB hub (where you plug the fans RGB cables in to) can only support the same type of fan at one time. So your new additional fans will have to be the same as you already have. If you buy different fans you would need to use a second hub.
  3. Unlikely that it's the hub. The hubs are incredibly dumb and simple devices. There is absolutely, positively no intelligence to them at all. They are just traces and a capacitor. That's it.

And no, you absolutely cannot skip ports. Well, I guess technically, you can, but then nothing will work.

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense, but I can't think of what else may be the link causing the 1st fan to be a different colour. The only other piece of hardware connected to everything is the Commander Pro, but only the fan power is connected to that. The RGB Hub is using LED Port #1 of this but it was in my previous build too and it had no issue. I wonder if a re-install of iCUE may help.

  4. Hi guys, I have an issue with colour matching between fans. My setup is 4 SP120's RGB into an RGB hub, into a Commander Pro LED channel. I also have 2 ML120 PRO RGB fans connected to the H100i cooler so they do not use the RGB hub nor Commander Pro.

After completing a new build 2 weeks ago I noticed my #1 SP120 fan is off-colour, for example the white is less blue-y, yellows look different etc. It's noticeable and annoying me. Today I swapped out the fan for a different one since I have a spare SP120 RGB. The replacement fan is doing the same, so now I'm guessing it's an issue with the RGB hub.

Q: Can I skip port #1 on the RGB fan hub and use 2-5 instead? I have a feeling the issue might be with the first RGB port, unless you guys have any other theories. Thanks!
