semperfly
I thoroughly reviewed the other threads and couldn't find anything applicable to my mobo/ram combination. I am running bios ver 2801. I don't want to overclock anything at this point. I want to set the timings manually, but am not sure what all the settings are. I have input the 5-5-5-18 settings in the bios and have the voltage set to 1.8v as indicated on the modules, but am not sure what value is best for the write recovery. Thank you for the advice!! DerekT
I would try these settings: Configure System Frequency/Voltage AI Overclocking = ManualCPU Frequency = 266DRAM Frequency = 800MHzPerformance Mode = AutoPCI Express Frequency = 100PCI Clock Synchronization Mode = 33.33 Memory Voltage = 1.8vCPU Core Voltage = AutoFSB Termination Voltage = AutoMCH Chipset Voltage = AutoICH Chipset Voltage = Auto Advanced Chipset Settings Configure DRAM by SPD = DisabledDRAM CAS# Latency = 5DRAM RAS# Prechardge = 5DRAM RAs# to CAS# Delay = 5DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge: 18DRAM Write recovery Time =
semperfly
Thanks for the reply DerekT!! I will try those settings. I have another quick question if you don't mind...I have never overclocked a computer before and am worried that if I do, I may damage mine. Is my computer a good candidate for overclocking (is it worth it)? Right now my cooling is the stock intel cpu cooler that came in the retail packaging and 3x120mm case fans in my antec p180b. I have (but have not yet installed) a Zalman CNPS9500LED. I don't think I would go to the trouble of switching to water-cooling though. What settings would you recommend to get the most from my computer? Thanks! Tim
DerekT
Download Real Temp from--> HereDownload Prime95 from-->Here Run Prime95 and choose small ffts. Allow it to run for ~20 minutes and run Real Temp at the same time. What is the maximum temperature Real Temp shows?
semperfly
OK, I ran it for 20 minutes as you suggested, and my results are as follows: core 0: minTemp 30 C, maxTemp 66 C core 1: minTemp 29 C, maxTemp 64 C This test was run with the stock intel boxed proc fan/heatsink. THANKS for your help DerekT!! Tim

DerekT
I would not overclock with those maximum temps. They are fine as they are, but if you want to overclock, then you need to purchase a good aftermarket CPU cooler such as the Thermalright Ultra Xtreme 120. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109140
semperfly
Thanks for the advice DerekT. :) I have (but have not yet installed) a Zalman CNPS9500LED. Do you think that this cooler would be adequate or do I need to buy a different one?? Tim
DerekT
I would say that an overclock to 3.2 - 3.4Ghz should be workable with that cooler. I would use Arctic Silver MX for thermal interface material. http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/10937/1182913919.jpg Thanks for the advice DerekT. :) I have (but have not yet installed) a Zalman CNPS9500LED.
