Righteous
Hi, i keep having blue screen issues and was wondering what options i need to change to my RAM settings in the BIOS: DRAM Timing Selectable - By SPD CAS Latency Time (tCL) (auto) RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) (auto) RAS# Precharge (tRP) (auto) Precharge Delay (tRAS) (auto) Refresh Cycle time (tRFC) (auto) Write Recovery time (tWR) (auto) Write to read delay (tWTR) (auto) Act to Act time (tRRD) (auto) Read to precharge (tRTP) (auto) PCIe Boot Port Function Init Display First PEG Force XI I got told i need to set my Latencys to 5.5.5.12 (which it states on the overclockers site) I also need to set my memory clock to 800mhz (where/how?) and my RAM voltage to 2.1V i tried looking on the memory configurator on the corsair website for my RAM type but couldn't find an exact match, could someone please tell me what options above i need to change and if these are the correct settings ! thanks alot and sorry im quite new to this sort of thing :>
DerekT
Download memtest from http://www.memtest.org and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk. Please download CPU-z from Here and post screen shots of your CPU/Memory/SPD tabs after installing the settings. You can use http://www.photobucket.com to upload the graphics. Download Core Temp Here Enter your BIOS Setup Utility and load default settings. Save default settings and reboot. Enter your BIOS and set: OC Guru CPU Operating Speed = User Define External Clock = 266Mhz Multiplier Factor = 9 DRAM Speed = 3 : 2 PCI-Express Clock = 100Mhz DRAM:FSB (3:2) = (266/2) * 3 = ~400; DRAM 400 X 2 (DDR) = 800 Voltages ControlDDR2 Voltage = 2.0v NB Voltage = 1.4v Advanced Chipset Features Memory Timing Setting = <Press Enter> CAS Latency Time (tCL) = 5 RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) = 5 RAS# Precharge (tRP) = 5 Precharge Delay (tRAS) = 12 Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) = 35 Advanced Memory Settings Write Recovery Time (tWR) = Auto Write to Read Delay (tWTR) = Auto Act to Act Time (tRRD) = Auto Read to Precharge (tRTP) = Auto Command Per Clock: 2 Boot to the optical drive with the memtest disk and allow for two full passes. Run Prime95. Results?
Righteous
Ok heres the printscreens of asked for: http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/7249/coretemperaturelr7.th.jpg http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/9455/cpuscreenshotmo1.th.jpg http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/7810/memoryscreenshotvx6.th.jpg http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/572/spdscreenshot1ii3.th.jpg http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/520/spdscreenshot2px4.th.jpg hopefully done those correctly, Right update: i did as you suggested, i ran memtest (no errors after 4 tests) i then made the changes you suggested, booted my system and it wouldn't boot up, instead gave a beeping noise for about 4 seconds then repeated, anywho i cleared the BIOS and reset defaults, i made the following changes: DDR2 Voltage - 2.1V 5:5:5:12 Latency The Overclockers guy also said i need to change my RAM Memory Clock speed to 800Mhz, is this the DRAM Speed (CPU:DRAM) ? 3:2 wasnt in the options, only default - 1:1.00 - 1:1.20 - 1:1.25 - 1:1.50 - 1:1.66 - 1:2.00, any help on this would be great ! and also thanks for you previous help! DerekT
DDR2 Voltage - 2.1V 5:5:5:12 Latency You memtest error free so well done. :) The Overclockers guy also said i need to change my RAM Memory Clock speed to 800Mhz, is this the DRAM Speed (CPU:DRAM) ? 3:2 wasnt in the options, only default - 1:1.00 - 1:1.20 - 1:1.25 - 1:1.50 - 1:1.66 - 1:2.00, any help on this would be great ! and also thanks for you previous help! If you take a look at your CPU-z Memory tab you will see that you are at 408Mhz and with Dual Channel Mode, this is 408 X 2 = 816MHz so you are already at 800Mhz. That's a great CPU for the overclock btw. Those Low VID "B" Fabbed Core 2's run warmer than the "A" Fabbed Core 2's but need far less voltage. I had no problem making 3.6Ghz with a Tuniq Tower. Keep in mind as well, that if you can make a clean memtest with 800Mhz and 4-4-4-12 on that DRAM, then very likely you can make 5-5-5-15 with 1000Mhz. Just be sure to keep the components well cooled if you decide to clock up.
Righteous
thanks alot for your help, ill post again if i get any blue screen problems, but so far so good (probably just jinxed myself). i was thinking about overclocking it, probably would get a pretty decent CPU fan/heatsink as im just using a low end one that came with a bundle! again many thanks ! DerekT
You're very welcome. If you decide to upclock, please check out the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. It is most excellent in reducing thermals and has one of the best temperature drop deltas of all Air Cooling designs.
