pikesolo
Dear guru's/all, Setup: Asus P5B Deluxe, Corsair 2x1GB PC6400@444 Twin2X DDR2, Seagate 320GB Barracuda, Intel Conroe E6600 Core2Duo, Asus GT7900 and a Scythe Infinity fan. I read the regarding topics about the ASUS P5B motherboards and most of the posters have big problems booting or getting things to work in the first place. I have a different problem, everything is working fine, but response in Windows XP differs in a werid way. I have a fast boot sequence and run Battlefield 2 or any other heavy hitter without any problems, but opening a simple textfile on the desktop or a 4GB RAR file, the system has me waiting for about 10 seconds! It's making me crazy, my system is brand new but offers me desktop performance of an old 1GB P4 machine. I hear different reports on the latest BIOS up from Asus which actually does state some improvements on memory and conroe support. But I'm reluctant. Anyone have an idea? Thanks! Yoxxy
4 GB Rarfile is quite a bit to buffer. What settings do you have in bios. Also from my experience 1004 seems to be the best bios.
